Using Vision Online does not require extensive technical knowledge
and - whilst some basic internet knowledge is recommended - the
whole process of setting up your Online site is simplified for you.
The vast majority of tasks are either conducted for you by Vision
Forecasting support or are accomplished from within the familiar
Video Vision Plus
interface and other tasks (such as uploading item images to your
webspace) are extremely simple.
The initial setup process
- STEP 1: Upon subscribing
to Vision Online, your space on the Vision Online server will
be configured. At this point if you wish you may indicate that
you will point your own personal domain name (e.g. mystore.com)
that you have registered with an appropriate registrar (e.g. register.com)
to your space on the Vision Online server (so that your customers
can view your Vision Online site directly under your own domain
name) or alternatively you can indicate that the site should simply
be configured on the visionforecasting.net server. In a standard
setup all the dynamic pages that form Online are stored on the
Vision Online server as is the SQL Server database which drives
your web site however a self-hosting option may be purchased if
preferred. Included in the setup fee is basic personalization
of your site - this includes the configuration of the email wording,
basic site wording changes, and adding your own logo to the site.
Any other modifications to change the design or functionality
of your Online site may be done as additional customizations (the
cost of which simply depends on the time required to complete
them) - the possibilities you have here are virtually limitless.
This step is conducted by Vision Forecasting support personnel.
- STEP 2. Your rental
inventory is uploaded into your online database.
Note that the Online database is a scaled down version of your main
store database and sensitive customer information such as credit
card information is NOT stored in the Online database. This step is conducted by
Vision Forecasting support personnel.
- STEP 3: Any additional
welcome pages of your choice - which link into the dynamic Vision
Online search and reservation/request pages - are loaded to your
Vision Online webspace (or your own personal webspace if preferred)
along with any item images that will be used. Most users choose
to register and use their own domain name so that customers arrive
at your own store domain, for instance www.your-store-name.com.
This whole step is generally conducted/arranged by you independently,
but assistance can be provided with this process if required at
the appropriate time and materials charges.
- STEP 4:
As you work with Video Vision Plus all relevant changes made (new items, item edits, customer additions/edits, rentals, returns, etc) are automatically uploaded to your Online database without any need for you to double key information (as is necessary with most other online rental solutions).
